Earlier this week we borrowed an hour of time from our very own Matt Smith to discuss all things Stronghold Kingdoms! We’ve edited together 10 minutes of highlights from the full discussion, along with a number of answers to your community questions. These were collected over the course of the past week and picked from discussions in the forums and on social media over the past few months. That said if you have questions of your own just let us know in the comments and we’ll try to include them in future videos. Continue reading

The Making Of Stronghold Crusader
Why choose the Crusades as a setting? What was it like developing a new Stronghold game in a single year? How did Firefly Studios deal with the pressure of following up on their breakout hit Stronghold?
We find new questions, stories, insights and box art secrets in this latest ‘Making Of’ interview with Simon Bradbury (Lead Designer on Stronghold: Crusader) and Firefly veteran Paul Harris (Senior Producer). Nick leads us through the basics of living up to publisher expectation and also those of their newfound community of players way back in 2002. 15 years later Simon and Paul look back on what went on to become the fan-favourite Stronghold title still discovered today on Steam and GOG thanks to a new generation of players with a desire to build an impregnable stronghold and destroy those of their friends.
Firefly Outtakes – Best of 2017
No one ever *truly* expects Shooting Stars, which is why we’re giving 2017 the send-off it deserves with a collection of the year’s very best Firefly Studios video outtakes! Join us as we look back on a year of trailers, studio tours, highly professional interviews and costumed antics for Stronghold, MetaMorph and Stronghold Kingdoms. The product of what must be hundreds of hours of footage, our first outtakes was designed by resident videographer Aaron to fulfill your desire for behind-the-scenes hijinks and (more importantly) memes.
Enjoy!
Firefly Devs VS MetaMorph
Our brand new tactical action game MetaMorph: Dungeon Creatures released yesterday on Steam Early Access! To celebrate we handpicked six daring devs and put them up against three of the most intense levels in all the game. Watch on in horror as Paul, Ben, Kieron, Nikolay, Nick and Tom do their best to conquer three unique dungeons of varying difficulty. There’s crushing failure, near misses and even some showboating as our developers attempt to keep death at bay and escape each lair unscathed.
Now Available on Early Access
It gives us great pleasure to finally release our tactical dungeon crawler onto Steam Early Access! MetaMorph: Dungeon Creatures is our third original IP as a studio and first ever game to break into the realm of action-strategy. To survive you must strategically morph between characters, counter enemy types and plan your attack as you advance deeper into the dungeon…
- Transform Your Fate – Morph between the lightning fast Rabbit, brutish Ice Ogre and spectral Fire Nymph as you deal with unique enemy types and attack patterns.
- Trap Your Enemies – Turn the dungeon against unsuspecting foes by leading them into the paths of vicious saw blades, incendiary powder bombs and colossal Skeleton Snakes.
- Power Up – Acquire and level up unique powers for each hero, morphing at just the right time to chain together effective combos and elements.
- Reclaim the Dungeon – Drive back the undead hordes and demonic forces that now claim the dungeon by rescuing the (mostly) innocent Goblins and clearing each floor.
7 Ways to Deal Death in MetaMorph
Ever wondered what it feels like to be crushed by a surprisingly mobile 1000 pound ice ogre? Set alight by an elemental fire nymph who is literally on fire at all times? Sliced and diced by a dual-wielding, lightning fast armoured Rabbit? How about cleaved in two by an impressively oversized saw blade, flattened by a boulder straight out of Raiders, eaten by a giant skeletal snake or blown to smithereens by the explosive force of gunpowder?
We attempt to answer these questions and much, much more in our latest MetaMorph: Dungeon Creatures video! Watch in terror (or excitement) as the not at all innocent denizens of the dungeon are crushed, incinerated and blown apart for your viewing pleasure. Feast your eyes on new gameplay from the latest build as we draw ever-closer to launch on Steam Early Access!
Quick Look – MetaMorph: Dungeon Creatures
This week we bring you our very first behind the scenes look at MetaMorph: Dungeon Creatures in the run up to release on Steam Early Access! MetaMorph is our upcoming tactical dungeon crawler in which you must best hordes of demonic enemies and brutal traps as you descend deeper into the dungeon and world of MetaMorph. Designed to test your moment-to-moment strategising and tactical thinking just as much as your ability to hack and slash life’s problems away, MetaMorph is a completely new project for us but one we’re very excited about getting in your hands. In our Quick Look video Fireflies Jack and Aaron demo a fun selection of the game’s earlier levels, filled an abundance of deadly bombs, saws, brutes and ugly goblins.
