Mid-Level C++ Unreal/Gameplay Programmer

Firefly Studios are looking for a Mid-Level C++ Unreal/Gameplay Programmer to join their team in London to work on an exciting new project.  We are looking for someone to help design and implement the technology that will form our next generation of strategy games.

Firefly are a small team and we are always looking for multi-disciplined programmers who enjoy working on many aspects of the game.  The successful candidate will have an excellent knowledge of working with Unreal Engine 4 within a team environment, with experience of shipping at least one game.  For this role we are particularly interested in candidates who also have experience with or interest in multiplayer coding.

You will be expected to jump straight into the project so we are looking for a confident programmer with good technical skills and the ability to effectively manage their workload.  At Firefly we like to give team members a degree of freedom over their work so you will need to be self motivated, hard working and reliable, happy to work within a team or individually, enjoy responsibility and have the ability to take the initiative and go beyond the brief where needed.

This role is currently remote due to the covid situation.  In the long-term, however, we plan to move to a hybrid model with a minimum of 2 days in the London office each week.

 

Required Skills

  • Expert C++ programmer
  • Computer science and maths background
  • Unreal Engine Experience
  • Game development experience
  • Shipped at least one game
  • Ability to work within a team to produce a finish project
  • Self-sufficient, can finish tasks to high standards
  • Confidence to take on responsibility, be ready to own a system and take it to completion

Highly Desirable Skills

  • Experience with or interest in Lockstep Deterministic multiplayer coding
  • Love of strategy games

 

You will be required to demonstrate your skills via a portfolio of finished projects (demos or shipped)

Location

  • Currently remote with a long-term plan for hybrid home and office working in Battersea, London.  All candidates must be currently based in the UK.
