Role Description

Firefly Studios are looking for a Junior C++ Programmer to join our team to work on an exciting new project powered by Unreal Engine 5.

To fill this role, we’re seeking a graduate with very strong c++ skills and the confidence to jump straight into the project, learning on the job with support from more senior teammates. As a small team, we’re always looking for multi-disciplined developers who are passionate about many aspects of game development. Our programmers cultivate areas of expertise but have ample opportunity to work on many low and high-level game systems, often in close collaboration with artists and designers.

At Firefly we like to give team members a degree of freedom over their work so you will need to be self motivated, hard working and reliable, happy to work within a team or individually, enjoy responsibility and have the ability to take the initiative and go beyond the brief where needed.

Required Skills

  • Strong C++ programming skills
  • Computer science and maths background
  • Ability to collaborate within a cross-disciplinary team to produce a finished product
  • Self-sufficient, can finish tasks to high standards
  • Confidence to take on responsibility, be ready to own a system and take it to completion
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Good communication skills
  • An understanding of code design principles and their importance in the development process

Highly Desirable Skills

  • Unreal Engine Experience
  • Game development experience
  • Love of strategy games

You will be required to demonstrate your skills via a portfolio of finished projects. We particularly like to see passion projects worked on in your own time.

Salary

  • £22,000 – £28,000 PA depending on experience.
