Firefly at Rezzed

Another week, another gaming event! This week various members of the Firefly Studios crew attend our local most local of events EGX Rezzed in east London. We joined our indie friends in the Great Gallery Indie Room to demo our new dungeons and hero released last month for MetaMorph: Dungeon Creatures to gather feedback and interest in the game before we add gamepad support and more in our next update.

Firefly at PAX East

This week we look back at the four day whirlwind that was PAX East 2018! A show packed with the hottest new games created by everyone from Nintendo and PlayStation through to indie devs and our friends at Devolver Digital. As a PC heavy show PAX also featured upcoming and newly released tech from ASUS, Corsair and other massive names in hardware, as well as tons of cosplay which was somehow both expertly crafted and in some cases terrifying. Firefly was there showing off our new tactical dungeon crawler MetaMorph: Dungeon Creatures with a brand new demo featuring our recent hero update, remixed dungeons and controller support.

New Hero – MetaMorph Dungeon Creatures

We’ve just released our biggest update yet for MetaMorph: Dungeon Creatures introducing a completely new hero and new content to hack and slash your way through! Adding the game’s first new playable character since launch in the form of the Rat Man, today’s ‘Cloak and Dagger’ update introduces new stealth abilities, traps and options for team composition in each dungeon lair.

Play a New Hero – Evade, trap and assassinate your enemies as the poisonous Rat Man.
Power-Up – Unlock new abilities allowing you to cloak and incinerate foes from a safe distance!
Defeat The Diva – Avenge the deaths of your kin and challenge a new boss across multiple encounters.
Go Deeper – Explore 15 new dungeon lairs filled with new monsters, mini-bosses and pitfalls.
Evade New Traps – Dodge new poison-element and rail traps or turn them against the Diva’s minions!

Firefly Devs VS MetaMorph

Our brand new tactical action game MetaMorph: Dungeon Creatures released yesterday on Steam Early Access! To celebrate we handpicked six daring devs and put them up against three of the most intense levels in all the game. Watch on in horror as Paul, Ben, Kieron, Nikolay, Nick and Tom do their best to conquer three unique dungeons of varying difficulty. There’s crushing failure, near misses and even some showboating as our developers attempt to keep death at bay and escape each lair unscathed.

It gives us great pleasure to finally release our tactical dungeon crawler onto Steam Early Access! MetaMorph: Dungeon Creatures is our third original IP as a studio and first ever game to break into the realm of action-strategy. To survive you must strategically morph between characters, counter enemy types and plan your attack as you advance deeper into the dungeon…

  • Transform Your Fate – Morph between the lightning fast Rabbit, brutish Ice Ogre and spectral Fire Nymph as you deal with unique enemy types and attack patterns.
  • Trap Your Enemies – Turn the dungeon against unsuspecting foes by leading them into the paths of vicious saw blades, incendiary powder bombs and colossal Skeleton Snakes.
  • Power Up – Acquire and level up unique powers for each hero, morphing at just the right time to chain together effective combos and elements.
  • Reclaim the Dungeon – Drive back the undead hordes and demonic forces that now claim the dungeon by rescuing the (mostly) innocent Goblins and clearing each floor.

This week we bring you our very first behind the scenes look at MetaMorph: Dungeon Creatures in the run up to release on Steam Early Access! MetaMorph is our upcoming tactical dungeon crawler in which you must best hordes of demonic enemies and brutal traps as you descend deeper into the dungeon and world of MetaMorph. Designed to test your moment-to-moment strategising and tactical thinking just as much as your ability to hack and slash life’s problems away, MetaMorph is a completely new project for us but one we’re very excited about getting in your hands. In our Quick Look video Fireflies Jack and Aaron demo a fun selection of the game’s earlier levels, filled an abundance of deadly bombs, saws, brutes and ugly goblins.

Firefly Dev Update

Now that Stronghold 2: Steam Edition is available, Stronghold Kingdoms has arrived on mobile and MetaMorph: Dungeon Creatures is rapidly approaching release we thought this would be a great time to update everyone on the state of play. Watch as our very own Lead Designer Simon Bradbury and coders Matt and Jack update you on all things Firefly with a snapshot on production for each title currently in development. In the video above our three developers provide a quick update on each title including new gameplay, timelines and nuggets of information. As we look forward to the release of MetaMorph: Dungeon Creatures on Steam Early Access and prep for full production and the reveal of Stronghold Next in 2018 this new video is designed to let you know exactly where we’re at.
